Think Tank Innovator

Position Duties:

  1. Innovate, develop, and deliver maker activities and experiences within Think Tank youth maker space.

  2. Oversee material inventory, ensure safety, and support the development of procedures for operations within Think Tank.

  3. Deliver educational opportunities to groups and families within Think Tank.

  4. Plan for and facilitate meetings for Youth Action Council members as they prototype activities. 

  5. Support ongoing inclusivity and maker identity research within Think Tank. 

  6. Provide training for volunteers, interns, or staff working in Think Tank.

  7. Support Operations of the science center, as needed. 

 

Position Requirements:

  • Experience or coursework in informal education with emphasis on education, science, and customer service.

  • Motivated to stay up to date on museum industry trends and best practices in youth maker spaces.

  • Ability to deliver educational experiences and an understanding of how to follow curriculum guides.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in individual and group settings and work and connect with individuals of all ages.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple, overlapping tasks while maintaining a pleasant, guest-focused attitude.

  • Expertise with computer technology and software

  • Must be able to perform physical activities, including bending, crawling, sitting on the floor, standing for extended periods, operating a cash register and computer, and operating a motor vehicle. Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Guest Experience Team Member with L.A.B.S. Camp Focus

Position Duties:

  • Deliver instruction in L.A.B.S. camps setting. Guide children ages 3 to 12 in science education content and social and emotional development while in program.

  • Create opportunities for guests in the exhibit floor that are focused on science and social interaction.

  • Deliver science workshops to guests in varied group dynamics.

  • Deliver programs to groups, such as Birthday Parties, and take Science on Wheels programs to other organizations (outreach).

  • Welcome, orient, and engage with guests in the First Impression Room, a dedicated space for birth to 4 year olds.

  • Help coordinate and assist in opening and closing procedures.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills typically acquired through experience and coursework in informal education with emphasis on education, science, and customer service.

  • Ability to understand and follow curriculum guides.

  • Skill using a computer with Windows software (word processing and spreadsheets).

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in individual and group settings and work with people of all ages.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple, overlapping tasks while maintaining a pleasant, guest-focused attitude.

  • Must be able to perform physical activities, including bending, crawling, sitting on the floor, standing for extended periods, operating a cash register and computer, and operating a motor vehicle (must have a valid driver’s license and suitable driving record.
