Digital Membership Card FAQs

 

What are digital membership cards?

A digital membership card is an electronic version of our member card that can be downloaded to a “smart” phone. The “card” has a “front side” and a “back side” that include all the information that is available on our plastic cards. Unlike a plastic card, digital cards can be updated easily by Impression 5 Science Center to reflect changes in your membership, such as the addition of a new child, name change, revised expiration date, or change in membership level. This benefit is currently available for our Family, Enhanced, and Elemental levels of membership.

 

What can digital cards offer?

This benefit can offer you:

  • Easy access to your membership information and benefits

  • Convenience of having your card right in your phone

 

How can I add to my iPhone?

iPhones have a native app called Apple Wallet. Using your iPhone, click the “Download Membership Card” button in the email you will receive from us, scroll down for a bit and then click "Add to Wallet," then "Add." Your digital membership card will automatically download to the Apple Wallet app.


To access the digital wallet, swipe down on your home screen to activate the Search function. Type "Wallet" into the search bar. Then, tap the Wallet icon that appears under the "Applications" header. From there, you will be able to access your digital card!

 

How do I add to my Android phone? 

If you have an Android device, you need to download Wallet Passes from Google Play. After you have the app, access the email you will receive from us from your smartphone and click the “Download Membership Card” button displayed below, and the card will automatically go to your Wallet Passes app, where it can be accessed at any time.

How do I share this card with the second adult on my membership?

To share this card with a second adult named on the card, navigate to the back of the card (Android: click the small “i” on the front) and use the “Share Pass” button to send the card to your secondary member. For iPhone users, you will navigate to the back of the card (click the 3 dots) to find the share icon (a square with an arrow coming out of it) at the top right of the Digital Card. Membership cards are not intended to be shared with adults outside of the membership. The cards are valid for the adults named on the card.  

 

How do I share this card with the third adult on my membership?

If you have a 3rd adult named on your Elemental Level membership, a card can be sent directly to them by providing their email address to our Membership Liaison, Joyce White at white@impression5.org or (517) 485-8116 x126. The same member card works for both adults named on a card but will not work for a 3rd adult. The 3rd adult member will need their own card that has their name noted. This is important for admission at our location but even more important for reciprocity benefits at partner institutions.

 

How do I change the 3rd adult on my membership?

Please contact our Membership Liaison, Joyce White at white@impression5.org or (517) 485-8116 x126 to update the people named on your membership.

 

I downloaded my card but I can’t find it.

If you have an iPhone, the card will automatically download to Apple Wallet. Check the app for your new card (scroll through any cards that are already there—it may be hiding!). If you have an Android, you’ll need to download Wallet Passes from the Play Store prior to downloading the card.

 

Why didn't I receive an invitation for a digital member card?

You may not have received an email about your digital member card because your email address is either absent or incorrect in the Impression 5 database. We would be happy to correct that for you. Please contact our Membership Liaison, Joyce White at white@impression5.org or (517) 485-8116 x126 for assistance. 

 

What if I want to give a gift membership?

Digital cards can be given with the gift of membership! To do this, please provide an email address for the primary member so that we can email them a link to their digital member card. If you don’t have the email address available at the time of purchase, the member account can be can updated later by contacting our Membership Liaison, Joyce White at white@impression5.org or (517) 485-8116 x126. If you would like to delay the digital card’s arrival until after the Christmas holiday please contact Joyce White at the time of purchase and we will hold the card back until after Christmas. Cards sent out the week after Christmas will have an expiration date of 1/31/2022.

 

What if I don't have a “smart” phone?

A “smart” mobile phone is necessary to download the digital card. If you don’t have a “smart” phone we are happy to provide a physical plastic member card. Please contact our Membership Liaison, Joyce White at white@impression5.org or (517) 485-8116 x126 with your request.

 

What if I want physical cards?

Plastic member cards will still be honored for admission and are available by request. With each membership purchase or renewal a card may be requested at no cost. Each additional card may be purchased with a processing fee of $3. Cards require a 2 to 3 week processing time and will be sent by US postal mail to the address on the membership.
